The Drive-In Exchange, Ltd. presents
If you've come to this website, knowing exactly what you are looking for, then you share the same passion as legions of others who are fondly familiar with the Laff postcards that were produced by Petley Studios.  This website is dedicated to those incredible risque and humourous postcards that graced the postcard racks of a large number of variety and 5 and 10 stores throughout the country from the 1950s through the 70's.   Petley Studios also produced a large selection of photo postcards from a number of states in the mid-west.  But right here, on this website, we dedicate our efforts to the Laff Cards with images of every known Petley Laff Card that was produced.  We will also offer a department where you can find a selection of those cards for purchase.  This is only the beginning and your advice and suggestions are always welcome!

My first exposure to Petley Laff Cards began way back in the very early 70s.  My family would take just  one week vacation each year and that one week was spent at the seaside resort of Rehoboth Beach in Deleware.  Rehoboth Beach featured a beach, boardwalk and an Avenue that ended right at the boardwalk.  Along the Avenue and the Boardwalk was a wide variety of novelty shops, t-shirt stores and restaurants that would satisfy any taste.  Each year, I would look forward to returning home with some treasure that I discovered at one of those seaside stores.  The Rehoboth 5 and 10, which was located on Rehoboth Avenue, just about a hundred feet from the boardwalk, offered a treasure trove of beach related goodies.  It was in this store that I discovered Petley Laff Cards.
Acknowledgement:  There is a long list of people who I have purchased Petley postcards from and I thank each one for doing business with me, but there is one person who stands out that offered the largest number of Petley cards I have ever found.  I'd like to thank Walter Kransky of Walt's Postcards for giving me postcard advice and for providing a highly detailed list of Petley Laff Cards that made my searching that much easier.  Please be sure to visit Walt's website for Petleys and other fine postcards.  His shipping is FAST and his prices are very reasonable!

In the store, along the wall, near the front, were shelves that held numerous Cedar jewelry boxes and Cedar novelty items that had Rehoboth Beach logos imprinted on them.  I can still remember the rich cedar smell of that 5 and 10 store.  Right next to those shelves was a large postcard wall stand that featured 100's of postcards.  It was on that wall stand that I saw at least thirty different cartoon postcards that were called Laff Cards.  The cards intrigued me and I became fascinated by them.  At only 5 cents a piece, I purchased 20 of my favorites since I only had a dollar in my possession. This was the treasure I returned home with and one that left a strange, intriguing spell that has been with me for all these years.
I had a special place at home for those cards and I remember looking at them for years.  Unfortunately, as most of us can relate, the cards disappeared, probably unknowningly thrown out is junk by my parents.  Years had passed, and looking back I desired to try and find the Petlley Laff Cards that I once had.  Only this time I would be buying them from collectors on the internet for a lot more than I had once paid for them.  So now, after years of collecting and searching, I am pleased to present the Petley Laff Card collection as  a work in progress.  Feel free to contact me for any new Petley discoveries or missing post cards.
