The Drive-In Theatre Archival Audio Recordings Series
Not long ago, Drive-In Theatres would play professionally produced audio tapes and albums for their patrons up until the first feature started.  These recordings would include the most popular hits from that particular time with an announcer who would encourage patrons to visit their snackbar between songs.  This form of publicity was popular from the late 50's through the 70's but has all but disappeared from drive-ins today.
The Drive-In Exchange has located a large number of albums and reel to reel recordings which played at many a drive-in theatre and has decided to make these historic treasures available once again to our customers and drive-in theatre owners in a new series called "The Drive-In Theatre Archival Audio Recordings Series."  This is the FIRST Series to be released under our DRIVE-IN RECORDS name, a NEW subsidiary of The Drive-In Exchange, Ltd.
PRESENTING THE 1ST OF THE DRIVE-IN THEATRE ARCHIVAL AUDIO RECORDINGS SERIES
A NIGHT AT THE SKYLAND DRIVE-IN
IN 4 INCREDIBLE VOLUMES!
It is August 5th, 6th and 7th during the summer of 1961, and you're headed to the Skyland Drive In Theater in Greenville, SC with the family or maybe your date. Once in the Drive-In Theater lot you find your favorite parking spot, pull in and park, wind down the window, and place the speaker on it. When you turn up the volume, you hear a local D.J. (the incredible voice of Lake Cely!!!) welcoming you to the theater, telling you about the great food available in the snack bar, fried chicken, hot dogs, popcorn, iced cold Royal Crown Cola, etc., and also reminding you to replace the speaker before leaving the theater, plus other drive in safety tips. There are also announcements for upcoming drive-in events. All of this is broadcast between musical selections of the day done by many popular artists. These recordings are transcribed directly from a 7" drive in reel to reel tapes, digitally cleaned up and presented in 4 incredible Volumes. The CDs faithfully retain the original sound of the vintage tape and sounds just as you remember it coming from that old drive in speaker! It's all here just as it was recorded, and just as it was broadcast those summer evenings back in 1961.
