When the Drive-In Exchange first began selling Intermission Stills 12 years ago, the stills were color laser copies of photographs that were developed from internegatives taken from 35mm motion picture film. Any imperfections such as emulsion lines, scratches, blemishes, or dirt were commonly found on our early stills. We had no way of cleaning them up.
Today, our stills are still high quality laser copies taken from Master Prints that we now make. The process which we make our Master Prints involves digitally scanning the original 35mm motion picture film with a Kodak RFS Professional Film Scanner and painstakingly restoring each print through a digital photo restoration program. Once the image is completely cleaned up and color corrected, we print our Master Print on a high quality photo printer. It is this image that is used to make our still copies. |

WHAT ARE MASTER PRINTS? |

SO WHY ARE YOU NOW SELLING MASTER PRINTS? |

|
The Drive-In Exchange has always strived to offer you the BEST quality possible in all the products we sell. The cost of producing these Master Prints a few years ago was at such a level that we could not possibly produce Master Prints to sell at a cost that would have been acceptable to either us or our customers. We wanted to provide you with a product that was both collectible and reasonably priced. That is why we choose to sell high quality laser prints that were taken directly from our masters.
Today, with technology driving the cost of producing Master Prints to a reasonable level, we have decided to offer you the option of purchasing Drive-In Intermission Stills in the BEST quality possible. Though we have always stood behind the quality of our Intermission Stills, we can now offer you these prints in the most pristine format that can be offered anywhere. |

WHAT MAKES THESE MASTER PRINTS SO GREAT? |
If you have ever collected movie stills before, you will notice that there can be different grades of stills even though they are the exact same image. How can this be? When most stills are made today, they are actually scans taken from photographs. There can only be one true negative for any one picture and the most ecconomical way to reproduce these images is to make photographic copies from the actual photograph. If you were to purchase stills that were taken from the original camera negative, you could expect to pay a hefty price for them.
All of our Master Prints are taken directly from the original 35mm motion picture film and are then Digitally Restored to pristine condition. When the image is Digitally Restored on our computers, we save it as a High Density image file. EVERY Master Print that we sell is printed directly from this image file onto High Quality Glossy photopaper. THESE ARE TRUE FIRST GENERATION PRINTS! Once the image is printed, it is then dry-mounted on heavy Acid-Free stock. You will NOT get a flimsy photograph but a TOP QUALITY heirloom of the restored image. |
